This is the level chosen for dark-colored vehicles, enthusiast cars, and any vehicle getting a long-term ceramic coating where the owner wants the finish locked in at its best.
Why multiple stages
Every abrasive leaves its own microscopic scratch pattern. A heavy compound removes a defect but leaves haze; a finishing polish then removes that haze with a finer abrasive. Skipping the refining stage on a dark car produces a finish that looks great in the shade and hazy in the sun — a common giveaway of rushed work.
Scope and time
- Full decontamination and claying before any machine work
- Paint thickness measurement on relevant panels
- Cutting stage to remove defects to the agreed level
- Refining and finishing stages to maximize clarity
- Panel wipe and inspection under multiple light sources
- Coating or sealant applied to protect the result
Is it worth it in Sacramento?
It depends on the car and how it is stored. A black sedan that lives in a garage in East Sacramento and gets washed carefully will hold a multi-step finish beautifully for years. The same work on a truck that parks in full sun at a jobsite and gets hosed off with a brush will be marred again within months.
If the vehicle will not be maintained carefully afterward, we will say so and steer you toward a one-step instead. Spending on correction that gets undone is not something we want to sell.
Frequently asked questions
How long does multi-step correction take?
Usually one to two full days depending on vehicle size, paint hardness and how much defect removal you want.
Do I need to have it coated afterward?
It is strongly recommended. Multi-step correction is a significant investment and a coating is what preserves it.
Can you do this at my home?
Yes, with a garage or a suitable shaded, low-dust area. We will discuss the setup before booking.
