We keep water away from charge port areas, avoid pressure near sensor housings, and use screen-safe products on the large displays most EVs use.
EV-specific practices
- Charge port doors cleaned by hand and kept away from direct pressure
- Camera lenses, radar covers and sensor housings cleaned gently and left unobstructed
- Underbody and battery covers left alone — no pressure washing into sealed areas
- Low-water and rinseless methods available where a property restricts runoff
- Regenerative braking means less brake dust, so wheel work is often easier than on comparable gas cars
Interior considerations
EV interiors tend to be screen-heavy with light-colored materials and open, uncluttered surfaces that show dust immediately. Vent detailing and screen-safe cleaning matter more here than in a conventional car, and light-colored synthetic upholstery needs regular attention to stay light.
Charging while we work
It is fine for the vehicle to be plugged in during interior work. For exterior washing we prefer the vehicle unplugged, and we will ask before starting.
Frequently asked questions
Is washing an EV safe?
Yes. EVs are designed to be washed; we simply avoid directing water or pressure at charge ports and sealed components.
Can you detail while my EV charges?
Interior work, yes. For exterior washing we prefer it unplugged.
Do EVs need different products?
Not for paint. Screen-safe interior products and gentle sensor cleaning are the practical differences.
