Most people book a full detail for one of four reasons: they just bought a used vehicle, they are preparing to sell or turn one in, they are getting one back after years of neglect, or they have simply decided to start maintaining it properly.
Interior portion
- Full removal of trash and loose debris, then a thorough vacuum including under seats and along rails
- Hot-water extraction of carpets and cloth seating where appropriate
- Leather cleaning and conditioning on leather-equipped vehicles
- Detailed cleaning of vents, console seams, cupholders, door pockets and jambs
- Interior glass cleaned to remove the haze that builds on hot dashboards
Exterior portion
- Pre-rinse and foam soak to lift dust before anything touches the paint
- Contact wash with clean media, then chemical decontamination for iron fallout
- Clay bar treatment to remove bonded contamination the wash leaves behind
- Wheels, tires and wheel wells cleaned and dressed
- Sealant or wax applied for months of protection against Sacramento sun
What a full detail will and will not fix
A full detail dramatically improves gloss, clarity and interior condition. It does not remove swirl marks, sanding marks or deeper scratches — that requires machine polishing, which is a separate paint correction service. If you want the paint itself to look corrected rather than clean, plan on adding a one-step polish.
Similarly, interior deep cleaning removes the overwhelming majority of staining and odor sources, but permanently dyed carpet, cracked dashboards and burn marks are cosmetic damage rather than dirt.
How long it takes
Plan on four to eight hours for most vehicles. Larger SUVs, third-row vehicles, heavy pet hair and neglected interiors sit at the top of that range. We often start early to get the exterior work done before Sacramento afternoon heat makes panel temperature an issue.
Frequently asked questions
Is a full detail worth it before selling a car?
It is one of the highest-return things you can do. Clean carpets, fresh-smelling interior, corrected headlights and glossy paint change how a buyer perceives the entire vehicle.
Can you do a full detail in an apartment parking lot?
Usually yes, provided the property allows it and we have a workable stall. We keep the footprint tight and the noise reasonable.
How often should I get a full detail?
For a vehicle parked outside in Sacramento, roughly twice a year with maintenance washes in between works well.
